Following the success of TikTok, many companies have attempted to capitalize off its style of content creation and formatting, but very few have had long-term success. Klipster is a newcomer in real estate software following this trend.
Klipster was founded with the intention of creating a curated and streamlined search process that makes things easier for both agents and clients. The idea came after noticing how the amount of agents finding leads through social media had shot up rapidly in the past few years, with TikTok becoming especially popular. the short-form video format combined with an audience that will already be using the app anyway made for an incredible selling opportunity.
This form of marketing has already seen success in livestreams, which are becoming more and more popular for casual shopping experiences. The live-streamed format creates urgency and a feeling that purchases must be be made immediately, while not giving viewers enough time to read reviews or product details.
There are a few concerns with an app that takes the direction Klipster has. For one, the main draw of advertising on TikTok as normal is that your audience will be scrolling through the app regardless, so you’re guaranteed some amount of exposure. However, it’s less likely that someone will go out of their way to download a completely new app, especially when there are established alternatives.
Plus, while people may be willing to make a small impulse purchase through Tiktok’s livestreams, an attention-grabbing and urgency-creating environment will not work as well for a financial decision as important as a rental or home purchase.
While the ideas behind Klipster are interesting and engaging, it’s unclear whether they will be able to become a mainstay in the world of real estate. After decades of similar formats and styles of listings, a fresh idea is certainly overdue.
