17th-Century Dutch Townhouse Dismantled, Rebuilt in Gramercy Park, and Listed for $8 Million

17th-Century Dutch Townhouse Dismantled, Rebuilt in Gramercy Park, and Listed for $8 Million

180 years after it first arrived in New York, this historic home, which has shaped the trajectory of New York architecture, has been listed for the first time since 2022.

In 1845, this townhouse was dismantled and carefully shipped piece-by-piece to New York by affluent Dutch owners. It was first installed on the Upper West Side, but moved to 135 East 19th Street 19th Street after 65 years.

This historic property was once owned by fashion designer Oleg Cassini, dresser of Jackie Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and Grace Kelly. Cassini was known to use the home as a hosting spot for his over-the-top parties and creative social gatherings.

This incredible home full of Neo-Gothic architecture has beautiful features that would impress any viewer. A few such examples include the stained-glass windows on every floor, the glass-roofed solarium, fountain, wine cellar, original stone flooring.

Although it was only just listed, it’s unlikely to stay on the market for long with its legacy and beauty behind it.
